Are you ready to dive into the fascinating world of numbers and maths with us? Think Academy Singapore recently hosted the much-anticipated Think Academy Singapore Math Olympiad (TASMO) 2023, a celebration of mathematical brilliance that left us in awe of the young minds shaping the future of Singapore’s mathematical landscape.
The TASMO Experience
TASMO, short for the Think Academy Singapore Math Olympiad is a prestigious competition that aligns with the MOE syllabus, GEP, and Singapore’s top five local Math Olympiads. All of the TASMO problems are rigorously written by our team of teachers to include topics that are in the national syllabus and other popular contests, and pitched at Singapore’s hardest Math Olympiad.
Drawing close to a thousand participants annually, TASMO stands as a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication exhibited by the students and educators involved.
Leading up to the competition, we provided students with sample papers of varying difficulty levels, accompanied by insightful webinars to guide them through the intricacies of problem-solving. Plus, an exciting addition to this year’s event was the new format for preschoolers. Nursery 2 students enthusiastically took on the challenge alongside teachers who facilitated an interactive, verbal engagement, creating a more relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for our youngest participants.
TASMO 2023 Awards Ceremony
We saw how our participants were challenged to solve complex mathematical problems and also build on the development of their critical skills. After the culmination of months of hard work and dedication, TASMO 2023 awarded participants across four categories: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Each awardee received not only a well-deserved certificate but also a gleaming medal in recognition of their mathematical prowess.
Before the award ceremony begun, we invited Teacher Eason up to share his invaluable insights on preparing for upper primary math competitions, emphasizing the significance of the “Big Three” Math Olympiad: NMOS, SMOPS, and RIPMWC. He also shed light on the core modules and abilities to develop a mathematical mind— skills that are everlasting and transformative for every students’ math journey!
Platinum winners were bestowed with a $300 cash award and a fully sponsored mathematics competition course at Think Academy for an entire semester. For the younger talents in Primary 2 and Primary 3, Gold winners celebrated with a $100 cash award and $300 in Think Academy course credits.
Meanwhile, Gold winners from Primary 4 to Primary 6 received a $100 cash award and a generous $500 in Think Academy course credits. Primary 2 and Primary 3 Silver awardees enjoyed $100 in Think Academy course credits, while Primary 4 to Primary 6 reveled in $300 worth of course credits.
At the end of the award ceremony, we had a vibrant photobooth stationed outside to capture the joyous moments of our parents and students. We saw everyone having fun creating lasting memories of the day’s celebration and taking home the hard copy printed photos!
