To help parents with Kindergarten 2 students gain a better understanding of their little one’s math abilities and progress before Primary 1, we have created a series of activities that will engage, excite and spark students’ interest in Math.
- Uncover the wonderful world of shapes!
- Math Carnival
- Free Pre-SMKC Evaluation (In-person)
Why learn geometry at this age?
Geometry is all around us
It is essentially understanding shapes, size, distance and its relative position. Learning geometry at this age will give them the necessary vocabulary to identify shapes in their every day life. Our lessons include fun games and interactive activities that children can learn through play, which allows them to deepen their curiosity for the subject.
Enhance their logical thinking and problem-solving skills
On top of learning the basic shapes, students can also develop their creativity and spatial imagination by learning how to combine and split shapes. Additionally, they will also learn to recombine shapes to create new shapes. For example, in one of the Tangram session, children will learn to use geometric shapes to create various interesting patterns, animals, and objects, stimulating their imagination and fostering creativity and artistic expression.
Develop fine motor skills
What’s more, our course will also allow students to develop fine motor skills. Little ones will get ample practice on how to use a ruler to measure and draw straight lines. With regular practice holding the pencil and using the ruler, children will improve their fine motor abilities, laying a good foundation for handwriting and drawing.

Why Participate in Pre-SMKC?
- Assess Mathematical Ability
Through the Pre-SMKC exam, parents can understand their child’s current math ability and discover their strengths and potential in logical thinking, calculation skills, and shape recognition. - Identify Interests
Some children are naturally sensitive to numbers, while others need fun challenges to spark their interest. The Pre-SMKC is designed to uncover their interests, allowing children to discover the exciting world of math. - Prepare for Future Competitions
Upon entering primary school, students may begin to participate in Math Olympiads such as SASMO and SMKC. Participating in the Pre-SMKC exposes children to math competitions early, allowing them to gain experience in math olympiads.
Features of the K2 Pre-SMKC Competition
- Scientifically Designed
The Pre SMKC exam helps parents learn about their child’s math level and discover their strengths and potential in areas such as logical thinking, calculation skills, and shape recognition. - Engaging and Challenging
The questions are designed to be engaging and fun, capturing the child’s attention while also stimulating their thinking ability. - Age Appropriate
Conducted through a one-on-one format, a teacher will read the questions to children and walk through their thought processes with them. After which, teachers will also provide thorough feedback and report on your child’s performance
