Parents and students completed the 2024 NMOS with anticipation on 16 July 2024. This year would be the first time students will be completing the NMOS in a single round. Additionally, only Primary 5 students are allowed to participate starting this year. For students aspiring to enter NUS High School of Math and Science, these changes can greatly affect their chances of DSA.

Analysis of the 2024 NMOS

Overall, the 2024 NMOS was relatively manageable. More than 80% of the questions consist of easy to normal difficulty level. 5 questions were considered hard and only 1 question was considered challenging.

Several questions left a deep impression, particularly Question 29 and Question 32.

2024 NMOS Question 29

This is considered a hard question, with it being the first time it had appeared in the past 10 years.

2024 NMOS Question 32

Question 32 is a challenging question for primary school students as you would need to learn about quadratic equations to solve the problem, a topic that is only taught in secondary school.
